Zsolt Popa is an up-and-coming young fashion designer who graduated in 2010 and has worked with several fashion companies based in Budapest. His first collection that made an impact nationally was titled “Barbie Funeral”.
Each of his collections aims to analyze or conceptualize one particular social group’s issues, or a social phenomenon (for instance, “Analytique” – religion, “Asylium” – the mentally ill, “Barbie Funeral” – BDSM people). His creations are feminine, daring. He has a predilection towards combining different fabrics and loves to work with leather.
“Horses” was such a collection, meant to highlight society’s narrow and one-directional outlook on the world, determined by a dumbed down mainstream mass-media.
